Job Introduction
As a Sexual Health Nurse you’ll be working as part of the NHS/Local Authority in Rochdale where we deliver Integrated Sexual Health Services across Heywood , Middleton and Rochdale.
An opportunity has arisen within our busy and demanding Sexual Health Service at Rochdale for a Sexual Health Nurse to cover for maternity leave for a fixed term of 12 months either part or full time hours
Main Responsibility
As a Sexual Health Nurse you will work within the Integrated Sexual Health Service providing holistic care for individuals attending for contraception, screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections in locality clinics and outreach provision across the borough of Rochdale.
- To have a key role in the delivery of contraception & sexual health services to the population within the borough and in provision of outreach services within the community.
- To work in all clinical areas and the role will include working independently within nurse delivered clinics as well as non health care venues and clients homes.
- The role will also include health education and promotion around contraception and sexually transmitted infections
- To maintain, update and develop personal and professional knowledge within the guidance of performance reviews and clinical governance.
- Report all accidents, complaints or untoward incident to the clinic nurse manager
- keep up to date with any relevant training and promote reflective practice.
- To take initial case histories and to keep accurate up-to-date medical records
- to provide specialised advice around contraception & sexual health and the best possible care to service users on an individual basis, to support clinical governance within the organisation.
- to issue treatment for sexually transmitted infections within the boundaries of Patient Group Directions.
- To be responsible for the initial and repeat issue of hormonal contraception within the boundaries of Patient Group Directions dependent on additional qualifications.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a Registered Nurse with relevant experience in contraception and sexual health.

You will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
