Job Introduction

Are you an enthusiastic and efficient Medical Secretary based in the Bath & North East Somerset area? You will work on a part time basis as part of our non-clinical team of MSK Care Coordinators that provide exceptional, consistent levels of service to both our patients and our clinical teams.

Working within the Orthopaedic Interface team, you will be working closely with and in support of our part-time Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Specialists (OPS) and the Clinical Lead, providing general secretarial and administration support. This is a busy and dynamic specialist service, currently offering up to 20 clinics per week and this rewarding post will provide an exciting challenge and give the opportunity for the post holder to play a key-supporting role within the admin department.  There is considerable patient contact therefore excellent communication skills are required.

Interviews are to be held on the 19th of October.

Main Responsibility

Your days will be challenging and rewarding and include

  • Deal with referrals by phone, electronic system, or email and directing these referrals to the relevant professionals and dealing with any incorrect referrals at source.
  • Audio typing of letters for processing via e-referrals onto secondary care providers
  • Sending out routine clinic letters via the appropriate clinical system
  • Booking, rearranging, cancelling clinic appointments

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience working and interacting with patients and clinical staff in a professional manner. You will be able to convey information in a clear, concise and warm manner. You will have the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and liase with people of all levels including the ability to support with the delivery of quality service. We are looking for someone who has strong organisational abilities and can assess risk and operate with appropriate discretion.

While we do not require this, ideally we would like someone who has worked within the NHS previously and has experience using NHS systems such as SystmOne.
