Keynsham Evening Community Nurse

Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Keynsham service as a Evening Community Nurse based at our Keynsham Health Centre location.

You will join a caring and supportive team of Community Nurses and Healthcare Assistants where individual development and progression is key and teamwork is at the centre. The service is located right (at the end of) the high-street with a Sainsbury’s and Tesco situated nearby. The service also has its own dedicated car park.

This is a part time opportunity working 16.5 hours with service hours typically being 17:00-22:30 across 3 shifts. Your focus will be to offer advice and support to housebound service users in their own homes to promote their well-being and independence alongside an experienced healthcare assistant.

We are a child-friendly team, and this role is perfect for balancing work and family life. As the role starts at 5pm, there is flexibility for school runs and other commitments.

We offer an individually tailored induction programme to suit your needs and interests and to help you develop your skills to be the best they can be, as well as preceptorships for newly qualified nurses along with other Continuous Professional Development opportunities.

Main Responsibility

As an Evening Community Nurse for the Keynsham team, you will mainly cover the Keynsham and Saltford area, as well as a few villages.   

To complete the duties of the role a Driver’s license and access to a car is necessary.

As a Community Nurse you will:

  • Responsible for contributing to the holistic assessment, planning delivery and evaluation of care to patients within their own homes.
  • To develop and implement programmes of care
  • Advise and recommend treatment by liaising with GP's and other specialists within the multidisciplinary team 
  • To take charge in the absence of senior grade staff
  • Administration of medication – s/c, im, pr, IV, transdermal, oral, controlled drugs, along with palliative care, wound care and IV therapy.

The Ideal Candidate

You will:

  • Be an NMC Registered Nurse
  • Have a full UK driving license with access to a car for work purposes.
  • Can work both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Have strong communication and organisation skills and a flexible approach
  • You will be looking for a role that is rewarding and varied and where you get to develop lasting relationships with service users.
