Healthcare Assistant

Job Introduction

As a Healthcare Assistant you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary Ward team under the supervision of the registered nurse, where you will provide support to trained staff in the health and personal care of inpatients within the Ward.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) based at Gravesham Community Hospital.

Gravesham Community Hospital is located a short distance from St Georges Shopping Centre and is surrounded by well-known food establishments and local coffee shops.

Main Responsibility

  • To assist in providing nursing and therapy care as delegated by the Senior Team Lead/Team Sister/Senior Therapists within patient’s homes.
  • To maintain knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to deliver a quality service that is responsive to the changing needs of patients.
  • To provide clerical and administrative support to the team as delegated by the Team Leads/Team Sister/ Senior Therapists
  • To deliver care in accordance with organisation policies, procedures and guidelines, according to competencies, as delegated by the Senior Sister/Team Sister
  • To report any changes in condition of the patient to the Team Lead/Team Sister/Senior Therapists or in their absence the designated nurse in charge of the caseload.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organisation skills and have the ability to recognise own abilities and work within sphere of competence. We are looking for someone who is a friendly, approachable team player who can work flexibly and will ensure they deliver positive experiences to patients at every stage of their healthcare journey.

It is desirable that you have experience dealing with the general public within a healthcare setting however it is not essential that you have worked in a care setting before as we provide full training when in post.
