Job Introduction

As a Healthcare Assistant within HCRG Care Group, you’ll join a team who are focused on exceeding the needs of patients within our community North KentYou will support the delivery of care to a range of complex patients which will include  meeting the clinical need of patients with complex and chronic wounds. You will be based primarily in the Wound Medicine Centre at Sittingbourne memorial hospital with travel across site may required occasionally.

The work is varied and interesting. Striving to successfully provide healthcare can be both challenging and rewarding and our services are developing to meet the needs of the local population.

Main Responsibility

Within this role, you will:  

  • To assist in providing wound  care as delegated by the Senior Sister/Team Sister within the clinic enviroment.
  • To maintain knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to deliver a quality service that is responsive to the changing needs of patients.
  • To provide clerical and administrative support to the team as delegated by the Senior Sister/Team Sister
  • To deliver care in accordance with Organisation Policies, procedures and guidelines, according to competencies, as delegated by the Senior Sister/Team Sister
  • To report any changes in condition of the patient to the Senior Sister/Team Sister or in their absence the designated nurse in charge of the caseload.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have:

Education, Training & Qualifications

  • NVQ level 2 (care)
  • Previous experience in wound care – and ability to follow dressing plans

Communication

  • Ability to work within a Team
  • Ability to work alone
  • Ability to listen to and to communicate with patients and carers in a compassionate and caring manner
  • Ability to communicate respectfully with all colleagues
  • Ability to be flexible with working hours across a seven-day week
  • Ability to undertake nursing skills and to prioritise visits in accordance with patient need
  • Ability to organise own workload without direct supervision
  • Ability to input data manually and electronically according to organisational policies
  • Works within agreed Policies and Procedures

You will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
