We are looking for a dedicated Sexual Health Healthcare Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team in Nuneaton. You will support the delivery of safe, inclusive and high-quality sexual health services to a diverse patient population across Coventry and Warwickshire.

This is a part-time Band 3 role working 26.5 hours per week.
The service operates between 8am and 8pm. You will work an agreed rota within these operating hours, including weekends on a rotational basis. Flexibility to travel between Coventry and Warwickshire service locations will also be required.

Job Introduction
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Sexual Health Healthcare Assistant to join the Coventry and Warwickshire Sexual Health Service.
Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will undertake a range of delegated clinical activities to support the assessment, screening and care of patients accessing our services.
Following appropriate training, completion of competency assessments and within the agreed boundaries of the role, you may undertake activities including phlebotomy, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, specimen collection and microscopy. You will also help patients understand self-testing processes and provide approved health information and signposting.
You will maintain patient confidentiality, promote privacy and dignity and help create a safe, inclusive and non-judgemental environment. Any clinical questions or concerns outside the scope of the role must be escalated to an appropriate registered clinician.

Main Responsibilities
Following appropriate training, completion of competency assessments and with support from registered clinical colleagues, you will:
Follow all policies, procedures and clinical protocols relevant to the role
Report concerns, incidents or issues promptly to the appropriate clinical or operational lead
Provide a professional and welcoming first point of contact for patients accessing asymptomatic screening services
Support patients to understand the screening process and escalate clinical questions appropriately
Undertake phlebotomy following successful completion of the required training and competency assessment
Undertake urinalysis and pregnancy testing as directed by clinical colleagues
Explain approved self-testing procedures for STIs and other relevant conditions
Undertake microscopy following approved training and competency assessment, recording and reporting findings to the clinician responsible for the patient’s care
Support the correct collection, labelling, handling and recording of specimens
Provide approved information about safer-sex practices and sources of further advice and support
Provide condom demonstrations and appropriate supporting information
Assist clinical colleagues during consultations and procedures where required
Record observations including blood pressure, height, weight and BMI when requested and appropriately trained
Maintain accurate, timely and confidential patient records
Ensure clinical rooms and equipment are prepared, clean and appropriately stocked
Maintain patients’ privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times
Work collaboratively with clinical, administrative and operational colleagues
Participate in training and development relevant to the role
Work within your level of competence and seek support whenever required

Essential qualifications
NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent relevant qualification
Essential experience and knowledge
Recent experience in a patient-facing, care or customer-service environment

Previous experience within sexual health, primary care or another healthcare setting
Experience using electronic patient-record systems
Previous experience of undertaking delegated clinical activities relevant to the role
Other requirements
Ability to work an agreed rota within the service’s operating hours of 8am-8pm, including weekends on a rotational basis
Ability to travel independently between clinic bases and outreach locations across Coventry and Warwickshire
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work-related travel
