Job Introduction

At HCRG Care Group, in partnership with the NHS, Essex County Council, and Barnardo’s, we proudly deliver the Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service; a trusted, free-to-access service designed to give every child, young person, and family in Essex the best possible start in life.

Our service brings together a dedicated team delivering Children’s Community Specialist Health Services, including Community Nursing, Children’s Therapies, and Community Paediatrics. From the antenatal stage through to age 19 (or 25 for young people with Special Educational Needs), we work in homes, schools, Family Hubs, and community delivery sites to ensure care is accessible, compassionate, and impactful.

We are for the community, with the community, and in the community; empowering families, improving wellbeing, and promoting healthy futures across Essex.

As a Family Wellbeing Nurse, you’ll be joining a passionate, multidisciplinary team recently rated “Good” by the CQC; committed to clinical excellence, partnership working, and real community impact.

Main Responsibilities

As a Family Wellbeing Nurse, you’ll be an integral part of our Healthy Family Team, working collaboratively with Health Visitors, School Nurses, and Family Support Practitioners to deliver the Healthy Child Programme across the community.

Your role will be varied and rewarding; each day you’ll make a genuine difference by:

  • Supporting children, young people, and families to reach their full potential through personalised care and evidence-based interventions.

  • Assessing health and development needs, creating, implementing, and evaluating individual care plans in partnership with families.

  • Acting as a role model and mentor, supporting colleagues, students, and new starters through guidance, supervision, and preceptorship.

  • Participating in early help and safeguarding initiatives, ensuring the wellbeing and protection of vulnerable children.

  • Leading or contributing to parent education groups on topics such as child development, managing common illnesses, and promoting healthy lifestyles.

  • Benefiting from regular safeguarding supervision and ongoing professional development, supported by our dedicated Practice Education Team.

Every Healthy Family Team operates within its local district; you’ll be primarily based at Maldon Children’s Centre (Maldon Library, Carmelite Way, CM9 5FW) as part of the Chelmsford Team, working 0.8 FTE (4 days per week).

Ideal Candidate

You are a Registered Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about giving children the healthiest possible start in life and supporting families to thrive.

You bring:

  • A strong commitment to community-based, preventative healthcare and holistic wellbeing.

  • Confidence in using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • A valid UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.

  • A caring, resilient, and collaborative approach that reflects our values — We Care, We Think, We Do.

Whether you’re newly qualified or experienced, you’ll receive a comprehensive induction and continuous learning opportunities designed to help you grow your community nursing career.

Together, we’ll build healthier, stronger families; one connection at a time.

About the Company

We change lives by transforming health and care.
Established in 2006, we are one of the UK's leading independent providers of community health and care services, working with health and care commissioners and communities to transform services with a focus on experience, efficiency and improved outcomes. We deliver and transform adult and children community health services, primary care services including urgent care, sexual health, dermatology and MSK services as well as adult social care and wellbeing services. Across England, we support communities of many millions and directly help more than half a million people each year - guided by our simple values: we care, we think, we do.

We're committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from a broad, diverse range of people who want to join our team. We’re a Disability Confident Committed company, so we work to provide facilities, work environment adjustments and technical solutions to be as inclusive of everyone.

While it doesn’t happen often, sometimes a role is very popular, and we’ll need to close it earlier than the date we’ve shown here. If you’re keen to join our team, we’d love to hear from you so please apply as soon as you can.

As you’d expect, safeguarding and protecting the children, young people and vulnerable adults that we work with is of the utmost importance so we have policies and procedures in place to promote safeguarding and safer working practices and everyone who joins the team is subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks.

Finally, we need to let you know that the company you’ll work for is part of HCRG Care Group Holdings Limited and by applying for this job we’ll need to process and hold information about you. If you would like to know a little more about how we use your information, please see our website's privacy policy.
