Team Sister / Charge Nurse

Are you a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse with a passion for rehabilitation and older people’s care?

We are looking for an experienced Band 6 Team Sister / Charge Nurse to join our 24-bed inpatient ward at Sheppey Community Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior clinical role within a supportive multidisciplinary team of around 30 staff members.

You will work closely with the Ward Manager to support the day-to-day operational management of the ward while delivering and overseeing high standards of patient-centred care.

Main Responsibility


As a Band 6 Team Sister / Charge Nurse, you will:

  • Support the Ward Manager with the day-to-day management of the ward

  • Provide clinical leadership and act as a role model to nursing staff

  • Contribute to holistic assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care

  • Promote patient independence and support rehabilitation goals

  • Maintain a high standard of patient-focused care

  • Ensure a safe, clean and well-managed clinical environment

  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team

  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records

  • Promote positive working relationships across the team

  • Act in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct

  • Participate in rotational shifts across days and nights

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a confident and organised nurse who is passionate about rehabilitation and community hospital care.

You will:

  • Hold a Nursing Degree

  • Have current NMC registration

  • Have experience working in an inpatient or rehabilitation setting

  • Demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills

  • Be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Have excellent communication skills

  • Be confident using IT systems including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Be flexible to work rotational day and night shifts
