We are looking for a  Switchboard Operator to join our friendly team here at St Martins Hospital, BATH to answer all internal and external calls into the Hospital Switchboard in a polite and timely manner

We are a close team consisting of 10 members of staff (although lone working is required on 3-11pm and 11-7am shifts.)

Our services runs 24/7 all year round and shift patterns are set at  7-3pm, 3-11pm and 11-7am 

Main Responsibility

Working within the Main Ward Block of the Hospital, you will be answering all external and internal calls into the Hospital on a computer program.

Dealing with all enquiries the role will include inputting patient information into our clinical systems and contacting relevant partners

The role involves acting as point of contact for the Bath Falls Ambulance Car and UCR which is new 24 hour service, alongside taking all Major incident calls into the Hospital for the surrounding areas.

Monitoring Fire alarm Systems, CCTV monitors and Security Alarms and other other adhoc duties

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience as a Switchboard Operator Administrator within a customer care, healthcare or social care setting
  • Excellent knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft packages
  • Accurate and efficient IT and keyboard Skills
  • Effective interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a wide variety of colleagues and service users, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with discretion, sensitivity and maintain confidentiality
  • Good planning and organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team and flexibility across other teams to meet the needs of the service
  • Responsive attitude to delegation of tasks
  • Punctual, cheerful, reliable and dependable
