Job Introduction

HCRG Care Group are currently recruiting for Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our dynamic team.  The Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service is based at St Martins Hospital working within a range of health and education settings across Bath and North East Somerset.

This is a new role and will involve working flexibly across many aspects of the service, offering a broad range of experiences with children and young people both pre-school and school-age.

Main Responsibility

Working under the guidance of a registered Speech and Language Therapist within the team to assist with providing speech and language therapy support to children and young people in clinics and designated education settings in Bath and North East Somerset. This will include working as part of a team and working independently in settings.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Work independently to implement regular intervention, following aims and objectives set by the SLT. These may need to be delivered individually or in small groups and in a wide range of environments, including clinics, preschools and schools.
  • Plan, devise and create activities and resources to meet the aims of the programme of intervention (under guidance from the SLT).
  • Demonstrate speech and language activities to parents/carers,and members of support staff. 
  • Support the speech and language therapy team with developing and maintaining resources. 

The Ideal Candidate

You will have experience of working with children and young people, ideally those with speech, language and communication needs. You will have strong communication skills and organisation skills, and a flexible approach to ensure you deliver positive experiences to children and young people and their families. 

You will need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
