Job Introduction

We are looking for a Social Worker to join our Adult Social Work Team at our Midsomer Norton location. A £2000 Welcome Bonus will also be given to the successful candidate

As an Adult Social Care Community Team, we work generically with a wide range of people with varying presenting needs. You will join an experienced and supportive team of Social Workers, Social care Practitioners and Administrators, where management is provided by a Senior practitioner and a Team Manager.

Team members will have manageable caseloads and we recognise the importance of robust reflective supervision. You will be encouraged to share your ideas, best practice and actively work towards improving the work that we do.

Main Responsibility

As a Social Worker in the team you will work with residents of North East Somerset who may be in need in of social care support

• We are delegated to deliver B&NES Council’s statutory social care function for adults who may have care and support needs as outlined in the Care Act 2014

• You will primarily be undertaking assessments under the Care Act 2014. This involves direct work with individuals, families and professionals, report writing, support planning, Carer’s Assessments and Mental Capacity Assessments

• You will also be expected to undertake safeguarding enquiries under S.42 (Care Act 2014). attending safeguarding meetings and practicing in accordance to ‘Making Safeguarding Personal’ principles

• You will also work with individuals around self-neglect concerns in accordance with BANES self-neglect policy

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a Qualified social worker (Social work degree, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW or equivalent)
  • be registered with Social Work England.

They will be able to demonstrate:-

  • Relevant experience of social care with older adults / physically disabled people / people with a learning disability
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. Care Act and Mental Capacity Act
  • Good understanding of strengths-based social work principles
  • Good understanding of safeguarding legislation and principles, and procedures relating to self-neglect
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Good report writing and IT skills
  • Ability to work effectively within practice guidelines and procedures
  • Good analytical and presentation skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills, including an ability to work successfully to competing deadlines
