This is an opportunity to lead a dedicated community respiratory team while making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire.

As our Band 7 Respiratory Clinical Team Manager, you will support the Community Specialist Respiratory Team providing specialist assessment, treatment and management of patients with respiratory conditions in community settings. You will play a key role in delivering services including COPD admission avoidance and recovery support, oxygen assessment and prescribing, and pulmonary rehabilitation programmes.

Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you will work closely with the Specialist Services Manager to support service delivery, workforce development, quality improvement and patient safety, helping to ensure the service continues to deliver excellent care across the locality.

Main Duties of the Role

  • Provide specialist assessment, treatment and management of patients with respiratory conditions across community settings.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based patient management plans.
  • Support timely intervention to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and facilitate safe care at home.
  • Deliver community oxygen assessments, interpretation of results and oxygen prescribing in line with local and national guidance.
  • Participate in the delivery and development of Pulmonary Rehabilitation services.
  • Provide clinical supervision, mentorship and support to junior staff and learners.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and performance monitoring activities.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and multi-agency partners to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Skills, Experience and Attributes

This opportunity would suit an experienced clinician who combines specialist respiratory expertise with excellent leadership, communication and partnership-working skills.

Essential Criteria
  • Current registration with the NMC or relevant Allied Health Professional professional body.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to respiratory care.
  • Significant experience working within respiratory medicine or respiratory services.
  • Advanced knowledge of respiratory assessment, treatment and management.
  • Experience supporting patients with long-term conditions and complex health needs.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement individualised care plans.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
  • Experience providing mentorship, supervision or support to junior colleagues.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Experience working collaboratively across organisational and professional boundaries.
  • Full driving licence and access to transport for community visits.
  • Flexible approach to supporting services across the wider organisation.
Desirable Criteria
  • COPD Diploma, PACR or equivalent specialist respiratory qualification.
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification.
  • Community healthcare experience.
  • Experience developing innovative or complex care pathways.
  • Experience facilitating patient education programmes.
  • Clinical audit and quality improvement experience.
