Job Introduction
We are looking for a highly specialised practitioner as part of a motivated diabetic service to join our small team within the DGS Community, based from Livingstone Hospital as a Band 7 Specialist Podiatrist. You will be working across integrated pathways, avoiding any delays in care and improving patient accessibility and outcomes, this will also involve contributing to coordinated diabetes education to support these aims.
You'll supervise Podiatry Assistants, Apprentices, Band 5/6 Podiatrists and Placement Students and also assist the Clinical Service Manager and Head of Operations with quality initiatives and improving service delivery.
This is a community role working hours are between Monday - Friday.
Main Responsibility
As a Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist you will be responsible for the podiatric assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of specialised care plans using a variety of appropriate treatment regimes.
You will support the formulation of a foot screening strategy and implement an education and screening programme in accordance with the National Service Framework and NICE Guidelines. Assessing and undertake nail surgery, procedures following departmental guidelines and supported by a Podiatry Assistant.
As we are looking for a Band 7 Specialist Podiatrist you will actively contribute to the ongoing review and development of clear pathways of care between secondary, primary care and interdisciplinary care, as well as participate in the departments clinical governance initiatives and the development and implementation of standards, guidelines, policies and protocol.
The Ideal Candidate
The post holder will have BSc/BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Podiatry or equivalent qualification, HCPC Registration and evidence of CPD. Having post Graduate training in the specialist treatment of the diabetic foot, and be willing to complete independent prescriber qualification within 12 months.
This is a community service, a full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential to travel across the geographical area, transporting equipment needed for patient treatment.
