The Role:

As the National Clinical Lead for Sexual Health, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of sexual health policies, practices, and programs. Your expertise and leadership will guide us in achieving our mission of reducing sexually transmitted infections (STIs), promoting sexual health awareness, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and understanding.

Main Responsibility

  • Strategic Vision: Develop and implement a comprehensive national sexual health strategy that addresses pressing issues, identifies gaps in services, and promotes evidence-based solutions.
  • Policy Advocacy: Collaborate with policymakers at all levels to influence legislative changes that improve access to sexual health services, foster education, and reduce stigma.
  • Clinical Guidance: Provide expert clinical guidance to healthcare providers, ensuring best practices in sexual health care delivery, prevention, and treatment.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of cutting-edge research and technology in sexual health, identifying opportunities for innovation and advocating for necessary resources.
  • Education and Awareness: Lead efforts to educate the public on sexual health, emphasizing the importance of regular testing, safe practices, and open dialogue.
  • Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships with stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, community organizations, educators, and researchers, to create a unified approach to sexual health.

Requirements:

  • Medical Expertise: A distinguished medical background in sexual health or related fields, with significant experience in clinical practice and research.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, drive change, and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Advocacy Experience: Track record in advocating for policy changes and successfully influencing decision-makers at local, regional, or national levels.
  • Innovation: Demonstrated interest in staying current with emerging trends, technologies, and approaches in sexual health.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to convey complex ideas in a clear and accessible manner.

The Ideal Candidate

Knowledge Experience and Training

  • Management of sexually transmitted infections and HIV 
  • Contraception, sexual and reproductive health 
  • Knowledge and principles of resource and budget management 
  • Understanding importance of clinician in management 

Qualifications

  • Basic medical qualification registrable in UK 
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register for Genitourinary Medicine or equivalent via:
  • CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview)
  • CESR or European community rights 
  • Other approved method of entry 
  • MRCP, MRCOG or equivalent

  • Willingness to work flexibly to support the needs of the service.
  • Ability to travel.
