Would you like to work as part of a dedicated team of specialists within the Community Neuro and Stroke Service? As a Multiple Sclerosis specialist, you will be working alongside patients to deliver the highest standards of care, with support from the Band 7 and the multi-disciplinary team. In return, you will receive specialist training to support your knowledge and skills to aid delivery of care. Experience of working in the community is desired. The role is community based and worked over 5 days per week. There is a wealth of specialist training on offer to support your individual and ongoing professional development.

Main Responsibility

  • The BANES MS nursing service provides a nurse led service offering community support for people with a confirmed diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The service provides assessment of individuals, and their carers needs, education about the management of MS and symptoms associated with the condition.
  • Working closely with named consultants, general practitioners, neurology rehabilitation team, social services and other private or voluntary agencies you'll act as an expert resource, providing advice, support and education for other professional and voluntary agencies.
  • With support from the band 7 MS nurse, you will work collaboratively with patients, carers and other professionals to develop existing services for people with MS, initiate and attend multi-disciplinary care reviews and case conferences and contribute to specific symptom management in conjunction with other care professionals e.g. bladder and bowel service.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • This is an opportunity to put your NMC/ 1st level registration to great use.  You will have a minimum of 3 years nursing experience.  Experience of working in a community setting is key and evidence of continual professional development. Previous neuro experience desired but not essential.
  • You will have the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. You will also have strong communication and organisational skills and a flexible approach ensuring you deliver positive experiences to patients at every stage of their healthcare journey.
