Introduction
We are looking for an experienced and inspiring Head of Integrated Healthcare to lead and shape the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate healthcare within a prison environment. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for ensuring that healthcare services operate to the highest standards and remain a trusted and constructive partner within the wider prison establishment.
The postholder will provide both operational and strategic direction, lead the Heads of Department and act as the key link between the healthcare service and the prison’s senior leadership team. Success in this role depends on clear accountability, confident leadership, strong partnership working and a genuine commitment to patient dignity and quality of care.
You will carry overall responsibility for service performance, governance, workforce culture and the effectiveness of relationships across the healthcare and custodial system.
About the Role
In this senior leadership role, you will ensure the delivery of safe, effective and responsive healthcare within a complex prison environment. You will set clear operational and strategic direction, maintain oversight of performance and risk, and ensure services meet national and commissioning expectations.
You will lead and support Heads of Department, strengthen multidisciplinary working and ensure governance processes remain robust, transparent and focused on learning. The role also requires strong partnership working with the Prison Governor and custodial leaders, maintaining clear boundaries while promoting collaborative problem solving.
You will oversee subcontracted services to ensure quality and accountability, and you will shape a positive workforce culture that prioritises openness, psychological safety and continuous improvement. As the CQC Registered Manager, you will act as the senior point of contact for regulators and commissioners, leading inspection readiness and representing the service with professionalism.
