Job Introduction

Working at Sutherland Lodge Surgery you will be part of a team of GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, HCA and Admin who work hard to provide the best possible care to our patients.  Sutherland Lodge is a very busy practice, we've recently introduced a GP led triage system and are trialling fifteen minute appointments.  The Clinical Lead is on site every day and time is set aside weekly to meet with the team to ensure the latest information is available to all and that there is time to focus on team wellbeing.  We are a fun, inclusive team, we like to take part in new initiatives and we like to try to be the best at what we do.  We work with our PCN to offer a variety of other appointments and are able to offer Health and Wellbeing, social prescriber, paramedic and pharmacy appointments to our patients. Come and join us! 

Main Responsibility

GP Responsibilities:

  • Always maintain the highest clinical standards and practices in accordance with accepted good medical practice and service standards.
  • Promotes the health and well-being of all medical and clinical staff within the practice by promoting efficient working methods and behaviours.
  • Keeps up to date with advances in medicine and practices in line with national and local guidance and support other medical and clinical staff to do the same.
  • Promotes the application of standards, protocols and codes of practice as set by Royal College of General Practitioners, General Medical Council, all other Royal Colleges and Councils applicable to the staff within the practice, Department of Health, Commissioning Bodies, and all other regulatory and standard setting organisations
  • Provide clinical advice and guidance to all practitioners caring for patients at Sutherland Lodge Surgery
  • Demonstrates innovation in the development of practice strategy and policy.
  • Provide help and assistance to colleagues and students at Sutherland Lodge if required
  • Ensure that patient notes are fit for purpose, generated, and filed in accordance with appropriate protocols and legislation.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a GMC registered with a license to practice and have a strong clinical background working in Primary Care.

On the performers list and have full GMC registration and MRCGP, with the ability to demonstrate an understanding of how working in Primary Care setting differs from hospital and can diagnose and assess the healthcare needs of patients.

Confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel.

Essential experience:

  • Full GMC Registration, MBChB or equivalent
  • UK permit or right to work in the UK
  • MRCGP
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Knowledge of the NHS
  • Understands the importance of evidence based practice and clinical effectiveness
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance and quality issues and health and social policy
  • Ability to make good clear concise medical notes, both computerised and manual
  • Experience of Microsoft Office applications
