Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist

Job Introduction

We are looking for a Band 7 Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist to join our Community Diabetes team in the Dartford / Gravesend area, you will be based from Livingstone Hospital. You will promote the health and wellbeing of people with diabetes enabling them to achieve optimum glycaemic control through informed self-management. 

You'll provide a link between GP and consultant led specialist teams and provide education and support both to people with diabetes and those who care for them, whilst supervising and organising the Diabetes led clinics. 

This is a community role working hours are between Monday - Friday either 8-4 or 9-5 with no weekend work or bank holidays included.

Main Responsibility

As a Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist, you will be responsible for organising the clinics in the community, managing a defined caseload of patients and providing education and training to patients, their families and carers. 

You will ensure the delivery of a high quality and productive service, based on best available evidence, and referring patients to other disciplines e.g. Consultants, GPs, district and practice nurses when necessary.

As we are looking for a Band 7 Specialist Diabetes Podiatrist you'll have the responsibility of ensuring the safe use of equipment, monitoring, and maintenance of standards of care, protocols and guidelines, which will include the training of staff and the implementation of quality control and assurance procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a Podiatry Degree with HCPC Registration, and be a Qualified Mentor with a post-graduate qualification in Diabetes with at least 2 years experience specialising in Diabetes. You will have experience in providing structured education programmes to patients with the ability to make clinical decisions associated with high clinical risk and potential harm to patients.

This is a community service, a full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential.
