As a Community Specialist Podiatrist, you'll combine clinical expertise with compassionate care to support patients with a wide range of podiatric needs, including long-term conditions, musculoskeletal presentations, and nail surgery. Beyond patient care, you'll help shape the future of the service by mentoring colleagues, supporting quality improvements, and contributing to innovative service developments. Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake specialist assessment, treatment, and management of patients using advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice.
- Manage a defined caseload, including patients with complex, high-risk, and long-term conditions.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
- Promote self-management and independence through education, advice, training, and provision of appropriate equipment.
- Contribute to service planning, policy implementation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support the education, supervision, and development of students and less experienced practitioners.
- Deliver and support nail surgery services, adhering to local and national clinical guidelines.
- Maintain professional standards, confidentiality, and accurate clinical documentation at all times.
What We're Looking For
This opportunity would suit a clinically skilled and proactive podiatrist with the ability to deliver specialist care while contributing to service development and multidisciplinary working.
Essential Criteria
- Degree in Podiatry from an HCPC-approved institution.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- HCPC-recognised qualification in local anaesthesia.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and current clinical practice.
- Sound knowledge across key podiatry disciplines, including chronic and acute wound management, nail surgery, biomechanics, and orthotic intervention.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload and make evidence-based clinical decisions.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Confidence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrable IT literacy.
Desirable Criteria
- Foot in Diabetes Module or equivalent qualification.
- Qualification relating to prescription-only medicines.
- Formal mentorship or student educator training.
- Experience using SystmOne or comparable electronic patient record systems.
- Previous involvement in service improvement initiatives.
