Community Children's Nurse

Job Introduction

As a full time or part-time Community Children's Nurse, you’ll be based in Harlow, working across West Essex and alongside our multi-disciplinary team including but not limited to school nurses, paediatricians, speech and language therapists to allow cross working and shared learning. 

It's a 7-day service that operates from 8am to 8pm every day including all bank holidays and we offer a flexible shift pattern of either short day shifts or long day shifts​.

HCRG Care Group and Barnardo’s are commissioned to provide a range of children, young people and family services throughout Essex that are free at the point of delivery and work in partnership to deliver the highest level of care and service.

Main Responsibility

As a Community Children's Nurse you will will be involved in supporting & caring for children & young people 0-18 years with acute, chronic & complex health needs. You will also be involved in the work to reduce attendance at the local A&E department and direct work with local GP practices. Additional responsibilities include:

  • To develop and maintain close links between Community and Hospital based services.
  • To provide specialist skilled nursing care to children in partnership with their family members.
  • To write care plans with the child/young person/parents/carers that meet their nursing needs.
  • To liaise with tertiary centres and co-ordinate care for children receiving shared care
  • To provide teaching and training within the team and others

The Ideal Candidate

You will hold a RSCN/RN (Child) qualification and have significant experience working with children and young people with acute, chronic & complex health needs either in a hospital or community environment.

You will have with strong communication skills with the ability to display compassion and empathy to the children and their families, whilst being able to build effective relationships in order to deliver the highest level of care.  

As this is a community role, a valid UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is essential.
