Job Introduction
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Cook to join our team as a Cook for a busy hospital restaurant and 3 wards!
Based in Sheppey Community Hospital, you will be responsible for providing 3 main meal choices and 2 dessert choices per day whilst ensuring the kitchen and associated areas are cleaned in accordance with the department’s standards and schedule. You will prepare food and accept deliveries and will help support the team in meeting the needs of the Catering service and complement the delivery of service user care by our clinical staff.
This is a great opportunity to put your managerial skills to good use as you will have the opportunity to manage our friendly and dedicated team on duty and manage orders to suppliers. You'll need to be confident and comfortable in handling monies as you will have responsibility for cashing up at the end of each shift.
This is a part-time position (32.5 hours per week).
Main Responsibility
As a Cook, your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing 3 meal choices and 2 dessert choices per day
- Placing orders and putting food deliveries away
- Managing staff on duty
- Cleaning to departments standards and ensure a HACCP plan is followed in relation to food delivery, preparation, cooking and serving.
- Be flexible with working hours to support with any changes to maintain service to the wards
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a Food Hygiene certificate
- Have experience managing a team
- Have experience handling monies
- Work well as a team but feel comfortable working alone
- Have the ability to follow cleaning schedules and Health and Safety instructions
