Joining Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Services as a Bank Health Visitor will offer insight into the way we are driving positive outcomes to local families in a new and innovative way and will allow you to simply transfer over to become a permanent colleague if this is what you decide.

Our services are offered across Essex from the Antenatal period up until a young person turns 19 or 25 for those with Special Educational Needs. We are located within the community delivering outcome-based support to families within their homes, schools or at one of our Family Hubs and Delivery Sites.

Main Responsibility

There is a Healthy Family Team located within every District of Essex and is made up of a Multi-disciplinary team, including Health Visitors, School Nurses and additional colleagues who work together to provide family support.

As a Bank Health Visitor, you can work from our Basildon, Brentwood or Rochford locations and be responsible for:

  • The delivery of the Healthy Child Programme including assessment of health needs, development, implementation and evaluation of packages of care
  • Using the Family Health Needs Assessment tool to plan and evidence care
  • Devise and implement individualized care plans for each child based on a needs assessment, within the Health Visiting Strategy, while actively involving the child/parent/carer/family in the planning and implementation of any proposed programme of care and support
  • Identify and assess health, growth and development in the 0-5 age range (0-19 Pathway)
  • Use the Early Help Assessment Tool when there is unmet need identified.
  • Participate in effective partnership working with other agencies and taking a lead professional role where appropriate. 
  • Use evidence-based practice to develop and maintain a high quality and cost-effective standard for Specialist Public Health Nurse/Health Visiting practice.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have the SCPHN Health Visitor qualification, along with a passion and drive to ensure that children in Essex have the best possible start in life.

The ability to be flexible is essential for this role and we are looking for applicants who can commit to regular shifts for continuity of care, typically being a minimum of 2 days per week. You will work out of the local office where you can complete all administrative tasks.

You will also have a valid UK driving licence, along with access to a car for work purposes. Although we can make certain accommodations if you do not yet have a driving licence or are unable to hold one.

Package Description

From 11 November 21, as a result of new legislation, anyone over the age of 18 who enters a Care Home as part of their job must have had both doses of a COVID-19 vaccination or hold a valid medical exemption.
