Job Introduction
Make a Difference Where It Matters Most
Are you passionate about delivering inclusive, person-centred sexual health care? Do you thrive in fast-paced, innovative environments? Are you motivated by reaching people who need healthcare the most?
Join our Integrated Sexual Health Service, where you’ll combine clinical expertise within our clinical hubs across Leicestershire & Rutland, with meaningful outreach—providing high-quality care to some of the most vulnerable and high-risk groups in our communities.
This is more than a clinic-based post. As well as working within our sexual health hubs, it’s an opportunity to take sexual health expertise INTO the community: working with people who face the greatest barriers to accessing care, and ensuring they are supported, empowered, and protected.
Why This Role Is Unique
A Clinical & Outreach Blend
You will work autonomously as an expert sexual health nurse, delivering specialist interventions both inside clinic and out in the community. Your work may include:
- Targeted outreach to high-risk groups (e.g., people experiencing homelessness, young people, sex workers, migrants, victims of exploitation).
- Leading nurse-led clinics, working across sites, and supporting the wider MDT to ensure smooth, safe service delivery.
Your clinical autonomy will include STI/HIV screening and treatment, contraception management (including IUD/implant insertion and removal following training), PGD use, triage, health promotion, complex case management and participation in MDTs and safeguarding processes.
You will play a key role in shaping how the service evolves—contributing to service development, audit, policy updates, and evidence-based practice improvements.
Please see the attached job description for a full list of responsibilities for this role.
Why Work in Loughborough?
Loughborough is a thriving university town with a vibrant, diverse community that makes sexual health both meaningful and rewarding. It offers:
- A central hub for the county’s sexual health activity.
- Excellent transport links (great for commuting from Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Birmingham).
- A strong community feel, with varied cultural, student, and local populations.
- Access to beautiful green spaces like Beacon Hill, Bradgate Park and the Charnwood countryside—perfect for work–life balance.
Why Choose Leicestershire & Rutland?
If you are relocating or seeking a new area to build your career, our region offers an exceptional quality of life:
- Affordable living compared to many UK counties.
- Great schools and family-friendly towns and villages.
- A mix of rural beauty and urban convenience, from the market towns of Rutland to the buzz of Leicester city.
- Rich cultural heritage, independent food scenes, festivals, and historic landmarks.
- Easy access to the rest of the UK, with major road and rail links on your doorstep.
Leicestershire and Rutland offer the perfect balance: a welcoming, down-to-earth region with all the amenities you need—but none of the overwhelming pace.
What You’ll Bring
- NMC registration and experience as a Sexual Health Nurse
- STIF Intermediate and DFRSH training (or willingness to complete).
- Strong autonomous clinical practice and decision-making skills.
- Experience or passion for working with vulnerable or high-risk groups.
- A drive for continuous improvement and innovation in sexual health.
- The ability to lead, support, and influence across the nursing team.
- A commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and excellent patient care.
- Non-medical prescriber or experienced user of PGD’s in a non-clinical environment.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
Please see the attached person specification for a full list of requirements.
What We Offer
