Job Introduction

At HCRG Care Group, we know that School Nurses play a vital role in helping children and families achieve their full potential. As a SCPHN School Nurse, you’ll work as part of our Essex Child & Family Wellbeing Service, which is built on collaboration with the community, for the community.

You’ll take on a leadership role in your Healthy Family Team, helping to shape the delivery of public health services to children, young people, and their families.

You’ll be a trusted partner for schools, healthcare providers, and multi-agency teams, using your expertise to guide and support others while directly influencing the lives of the families you serve.

Main Responsibilities

As a SCPHN School Nurse, you’ll take on a rewarding role that’s both varied and impactful. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing preventative and supportive health care to children, young people, and their families in schools, homes, and community venues.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering the Healthy Child Programme across all four levels.
  • Managing and supervising School Staff Nurses and Support Staff, helping them prioritize and organize their caseloads.
  • Mentoring students and new team members, fostering their development as they grow into their roles.
  • Working closely with headteachers, healthcare providers, and multi-agency teams to ensure seamless support for school-age children.
  • Confidently supporting vulnerable children and families, collaborating with safeguarding teams to reduce risk and prevent harm.

The Ideal Candidate

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • A Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) qualification and current NMC registration.
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families.
  • A solid understanding of child and adolescent development, safeguarding, and clinical governance.
  • A valid driving license and access to a car for work.
