Job Introduction
We are looking for a band 5 dermatology nurse to work within our North and Northeast Lincolnshire Dermatology service, where we provide consultation, advice and treatment from consultants, specialist GPs and specialist nurses for a wide range of dermatological problems (skin complaints).
We are a community dermatology service that is consultant-led, that takes referrals from people of all ages. All referrals are triaged with some conditions seen initially by our nurse specialist, who is supported by the consultant.
Reporting to a senior dermatology specialist nurse, the post holder will undertake training to become a dermatology specialist nurse.
The post holder will be based in: Cromwell Road Primary Care Centre, Cromwell Road, Grimsby.

- Provide high quality, consultant led dermatology service in a primary care setting, using experienced dermatology professionals
- Improve patient access across North and Northeast Lincolnshire in both speed of appointment and accessibility of location
- Will enable demand to be more effectively managed within primary care through GP ownership of referral protocols and care pathways
- Help to ensure the 18-week referral to treatment targets are met by reducing waiting times and more accurately matching need to professional competence with appropriate onward referrals
- Improve skills and knowledge as education and training will be provided regularly for GPs and Primary Healthcare Teams.
Skins conditions we treat include:
- Mild to moderate inflammatory skin disorders
- Low-risk Basal Cell within the following criteria
- Suspected Malignant Melanoma or Squamous Cell Carcinoma
- Cryotherapy for warts not responding to topical treatment
- Actinic solar keratosis (dry scaly patches of skin caused by damage from sun exposure)
- Moderate eczema
- Troublesome acne
- Mild to moderate psoriasis – initial management
- Moderate/severe psoriasis which may need light therapy
- Allergic contact dermatitis or other moderate inflammatory dermatoses
- Pyogenic granuloma
- Dermatological conditions of genitalia
- Cutaneous vasculitis
- Skin cancer
- Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
Main Responsibility
Your days will be rewarding and fulfilling and include providing professional, managerial and clinical leadership for the nursing team and supporting the Clinical Lead and Service Manager to deliver efficient services that meet or exceed required quality standards within the Dermatology Service.
As a Dermatology Nurse you will contribute to the development of a clinical strategy and pathways of care within the Dermatology Service, with a focus on improving the consistency of the patient experience across the services within the region.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a Registered Nurse with NMC registration.
You will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel.
