Job Introduction
Are you a positive, enthusiastic, motivated, Speech and Language Therapy Assistant? Are you keen to be involved in a pilot project to develop a new, exciting Assistant Practitioner role within the Speech and Language Therapy Team?
We have some exciting part time posts available working 30 hours per week term time only, based in the county town of Trowbridge (or Chippenham or Salisbury), at one of our main Hubs in Wiltshire.
Main Responsibility
As the Assistant Practitioner you will offer support to children and young people, their families and other service users. You will reduce the impact of speech and language difficulties, to allow children to participate in daily life and inspire them to reach their full potential.
Working within the dynamic Wiltshire children's community team, you will provide some assessment and intervention for preschool and school aged children who experience speech, language, or communication difficulties. This is delivered within preschools, clinics, schools, and other community settings throughout Wiltshire, therefore owning and driving a car is essential. Agile working is encouraged including some home working, the use of virtual consultations, as well as face to face appointments where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
- You will have experience of working with children with speech, language and communication difficulties as part of the Wiltshire Community Speech and Language Therapy Service.
- You will be interested in training and development to learn about formal assessment, as well as being able to analyse the results of these in order to set appropriate targets for the children.
- You would also need to be able to evaluate and analyse the development of this new role as part of a working party.

- You will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
