Apprenticeship Work Coach

Job Introduction

We are looking for an occupationally competent and passionate Apprenticeship Work Coach to join our team at HCRG Care Group. In this rewarding role, you will support apprentices across a range of Leadership, Health & Social Care, and Clinical Care apprenticeship standards, guiding them throughout their full learning journey.

Working collaboratively with employers, line managers, workplace mentors and our quality assurance team, you will deliver high‑quality coaching, conduct progress reviews, and provide ongoing pastoral support to ensure apprentices stay engaged, motivated and on track to achieve their qualifications.

This role focuses on coaching, mentoring, assessment readiness and pastoral care rather than formal classroom teaching. You will play an essential part in helping apprentices achieve mandatory requirements such as Functional Skills in Math and English through coaching and signposting.

This role offers hybrid working to support a better work-life balance. When you aren't working from home, you will be based from our Head Office at Runcorn or will be aligned to your nearest service locality with travel required to National Services when necessary.

We have both full-time (37.5 hours per week) and part-time (22.5 hours per week) opportunities available.

Interviews for successful applicants are scheduled to take place week commencing 26th February.

What you'll do:

  • Support apprentices to achieve successful, timely completion of their apprenticeship standards.
  • Deliver high‑quality coaching, mentoring and assessment support.
  • Engage apprentices, managers and workplace mentors to build tailored learning and development plans aligned to workplace practice.
  • Provide pastoral support to apprentices, taking into account individual wellbeing needs.
  • Prepare, agree and review action plans during regular progress reviews in line with programme and funding requirements.
  • Support apprentices to achieve Functional Skills through coaching and effective signposting.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including individualised learning records and funding‑compliant progress reviews.
  • Proactively identify new apprenticeship opportunities within relevant occupational sectors, ensuring programme content remains current and fit for purpose.
  • Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met and all learners are protected throughout their programme.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date records of apprentice progress, engagement and compliance.
  • Attend standardisation and quality meetings with work coaches and assessors.

About you:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience delivering apprenticeship standards, ideally within Leadership & Business, Coaching or Healthcare sectors, up to and including Level 5.
  • Recognised assessor qualification (e.g., CAVA, TAQA or equivalent).
  • Excellent verbal, written and digital communication skills.
  • Strong ability to deliver high‑quality coaching and support in virtual or blended environments.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage a caseload, ensuring progression, engagement, funding compliance, and timely completions.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and confident using digital learning platforms.
  • A proactive problem-solver with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Comfortable working unsupervised for periods and managing time effectively.
  • Ability to travel nationally for meetings, events and learner visits when required.
