Job Introduction

Consultant Dermatologist – opportunity in Grimsby, we are looking for a substantive colleague to come and join our service in the Northeast. This is a full-time position covering (10 PA’s) but we would also consider less than full time availability.

Duties will be based primarily between Cromwell Road (Grimsby) and Ironstone Health Centre (Scunthorpe) sites delivering care to patients on all our sites.

We are a Community Dermatology Service providing dermatology care for an area of North and Northeast Lincolnshire Dermatology.  We provide a wide range of dermatology services from General, Patch Testing, Biologics, Phototherapy including a weekly Local Skin MDT.

You will join our dedicated dermatology team which includes consultants, Associate Specialists, Specialist Nurses including a Skin Cancer CNS.

Main Responsibility

The main duties of the post will include:

  • Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service with the highest standard of care
  • To provide high quality care to all patients attending the Dermatology Service
  • Keep patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) informed about their condition and involve them in the decision making of their treatment
  • Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out from time to time by the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply with the GMC’s guidance on ‘Good Medical Practice’ as amended or substituted from time to time.
  • Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the HCRG Care Group framework, with at least a minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service. For example, additional leadership duties or tasks.
  • Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines
  • Consulting with patients and determining skin ailments, prescribing medication, undertaking skin therapy treatment, performing skin surgery.
  • Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.

NB: All DCC will also include 30 mins administration time at the end of clinics.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Full Registration with GMC
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following.
  • A Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Dermatology or within 6 months of CCT date
  • Certificate of Eligibility Specialist Registration (CESR)
  • Specialty Certificate Examination in Dermatology – MRCP (Dermatology)
  • Demonstrates clarity in written and spoken communication
  • Good interpersonal skills, courteous to patients and staff always
  • Enthusiastic team player
  • Open and reflective
  • Computer literate in office, internet applications and literature searches
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Effective communication skills, enthusiasm, and approachability.
  • Commitment to clinical governance.
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Demonstrate commitment and ability to teach and train clinical staff and medical and nursing students.
