Children's Integrated Therapy Assistant

Job Introduction

We are offering the exciting opportunity for a Therapy Assistant to join our team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. As a Therapy Assistant in the Integrated Therapies Team you will be part of a multidisciplinary team (including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Paediatricians, Speech and Language Therapists...etc) and will work alongside other dedicated staff within the Children's Community Services. As a therapy assistant with HCRG Care Group you will deliver excellent patient care under the guidance of our therapists. Main Responsibility

You will develop your skills in treating children, working under the direction of the Children’s Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, with a range of issues including complex conditions, coordination difficulties and developmental delay.                 

The role will also involve:

  • Delivering of high quality, individualised, evidenced based care to all children
  • Ensuring that therapy input is integrated into the patients’ overall care plan
  • Operating under the direction of the OT’s and Physio’s, but at times working without direct supervision and lone working
  • Working with the children’s OT and Physio Team to help develop the service in line with patient need, local and national developments

 

The Ideal Candidate

The essential qualities we are looking for in our Therapy Assistant Practitioner applicants are:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • NVQ in child care or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge or experience of child development and possible complications that might arise
  • Previous experience of working with children or in the NHS  
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams across health, social and voluntary sectors
